8-26-16, Out of Chesapeake Beach - "Every day is different"

I haven't been able to get out to perch fish much due to the truck being sick so Bob Morgan offered up his OK Big Game Prowler (I used to have one) so we could get in a 1/2 day today.

The morning was spectacular....

....clear with light west winds and comfortable temps!

Bob started off catching a few here and there. All I got was a few half hearted taps. These fish were NOT active!

Then I got snagged....nope, it's moving. I am fighting a nice fish. Then he runs under the yak and I figure I have a striper until I get him close. Holy Crap! I've only seen a fish that size at the end of Mo's line. I have no net but I get him on the boat securely. I know he's big but I don't have a way to measure so I haul butt to where Bob is, yelling and screaming, "this is the biggest perch I have ever caught!".

We carefully got the Hawg Trough under it and it was a 13 incher!

I have been looking for that fish since 1984! A MD citation!

After calling me a few choice words....Bob kept fishing ad catching!

The reason he called me names is that he could have used that fish for the SRRKC White Perch tourney which I did not enter this year due to  the truck being down. A measly $10!

Bob had a great day with a 12.75" and many other monsters. He moved his 3 fish total up by an inch I think....that's a lot in a day!

My next fish (few and far between) was a solid 11+" fish but I did not measure.

Then as we were about to leave, I get a 12 incher!

Now my best 3 fish total is 36"+ and I am not in the tourney. Bob is now laughing at me as these fish would have put me in 1st Place!

We had a great time out there with calm seas.

Bob kept a stringer....

....for his neighbor. Beast perch!

We checked my fish in at a tackle store....

...so that I can be entered in the Maryland Fishing Challenge. I now have a shot a a prize. A friend of ours won a Tracker boat a few years back!

Despite my PB perch, Bob put a whoopin' on me today. The fishing was slow, literally. The bites were hard to detect. Sometimes, we just set the hook when we touched bottom hoping a fish was close. And we caught a few that way.

Time to go fishin' again!

Fishing with Ernie makes all seem right with the world. Catching fish is a bonus, and today was a really good day.  Already looking forward to the next trip..

Ernie always starts with a sunrise pic, this time he was part of the sunrise.
