Yep, another perch story and many more yet to come.....
Dan and Molly joined me today....
....as Dan needed some perch for a fish fry at his parent's house tonight. Thanks for the pressure!
We took a peek at the mouth of the Severn just for grins....
You see, Molly had never caught a white perch before.....
....so Dan showed her how and she learned quickly!
We started at the towers and quickly started to fill the cooler with eaters.
Once the waves from all of the boats started to rock us, we went inside to my new favorite pond where we caught a bunch! We also caught a few little stripers.
Now it was time to get to touch them!
Then, we moved to Brewer's pond where Molly caught her 1st keeper eater....
....which I promptly threw back in. Don't ask me why, I just did.
We were throwing typical Woody lures, curly tails and I pretty much stayed with a 1/4oz kasmaster type lure with a dressed hook (shrimp fly made by Joe Cap). We all caught fish.
Molly was in charge of the snacks so she had some delicious Swedish fish. Dan put one on a spinner and caught a few fish with it!
Molly's casting got better and better each time. She got hung up once in a while and would apologize until she realized we did it more. Now she knew it was part of the game.
Here she admires Dan's cast....
Dan also caught a nice pickle....almost 20"!
He also caught a second one.
It was getting hot (and we were getting hungry) so we started back but not before hitting one more place. This required some sidearm casting to get the lure under the docks. Molly excelled and pulled a couple of nice fish out.
We had a blast today and have a new percher in our midst. Dan was happy with his eaters. Many in the 10's....one at 11".
A quick stop at Ledo's topped the day off and we learned a new way to eat Ledo's pizza. No cheese and extra sauce....lots of toppings. Outstanding!! Molly is lactose intolerant but that made no difference in the yummyness of the cheeseless pizza.
Hmmmm, I wonder how many times we referenced Carl today.....

The WP were really biting at Beaverdam today too. Unfortunately they're all so small. Didn't stop them from attacking my ragetail craw.

I only took him because Molly came along!
BTW, we had another 1st on the boat. She made a cast and her reel came flying off the rod. Right in the drink...with an open bale. Needless to say, we had to resort to the Cuban yo yo to take up the line (and hope Dan had tied a good knot to the reel). Anyway, we did retrieve the reel. Good times!
