6/10/08 - Pavilion Excursion

Went out to the Pavilion Lake yesterday, much like Curly on Cedar, after the cold front dropped the temp 15 degrees. I began throwing a frog on the matted algae tight into coves and dropoffs and landed a good number of bass all the way up to the 1lb range. I think I landed bass on 3 of my first 5 casts. I missed a few as well as is common with the frog. For the non-algae covered areas on the lake, I threw a t-rig worm ranging from 6-9 inches in length and landed some very active smaller bass. They were reacting hard to the bait and slamming it and running off.

I love summertime fishing in the Ashburn Lakes. I can't wait for the grass to breach the water's surface on Beech because the frog bite turns on nicely there.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
