Since the river was forecasted to rise 4' due to the rain, I opted to chase greenies. This was my first time there this year. I caught my first fish about 7:00am in a cove in a white albert grub on a jig with spinner.
It had obviously spawned recently as the tail was all worn.
That was the only one for a while and I moved to try and find clearer water and a pattern. After messing around with some different lures and testing some new buzzbaits, I hooked a nice fish on a small bomber crankbait. I lost it near the boat due to a poor hookset. A couple casts later, I had another. This was a solid pattern that worked for the rest of the day, Run the small crank near the weedline either parallel or out from pockets. I caught about 9 and lost 2 (including the first and a big one with black spots that I missed with the net. Here are a couple examples of the range.
Fish were strong, healthy and hungry! I lost the first lure and continued to catch on another until I lost that one. Bummer, cause they are out of production.
Good day.

Anyone catch any pike out of the reservoir? I read a few years ago that VDGIF was going to start stocking them there.
