Went down to West Palm to visit my family and was able to get out on Monday to fish with Roy (my bro-in-law). Wind was out of the North, so we decided to fish Okeechobee instead of Stick Marsh. Supposedly Stick Marsh is a tough place to fish when there is wind. Unfortunately, Okeechobee had been hit hard on Saturday and Sunday with 2 tournaments. But I didn't care. We were still fishing!! Got up early and got on the lake about 6:30am in the dark. Thank God I trust Roy! Because driving Okeechobee in the dark is not easy. The GPS does not show the weeds or channels. It only shows open water. AND Roy had just cleared the tracks on his GPS because the memory was full. So, we winged it. Roy is a great Captain, so with a few quick course corrections when we saw weeds 15 feet in front of us, it all worked out.
We had a great day fishing, but nothing huge. Caught about 40 fish between the 2 of us (Roy 25 and me 15). The biggest was about 5 lbs (post spawn - see pic below) and we were pretty consistently catching 2-3 lbers. Covered a lot of water and had a blast just being out there. Most of the fish were caught on either wacky worms, topwater torpedoes, or swim jigs.
Also, Roy just installed a Powerpole on the Tracker. That is the best invention ever in the history of the universe!! He could sit up front and anchor/pull up anchor with the push of a button. So useful and easy, especially on a lake like Okeechobee where the Powerpole will work in 95% of the water.
On Tuesday we went out on Roy's big boat (50 foot Post) and cruised from Jupiter to Stuart on the Intracoastal. No fishing, but we did find a small pod of dolphins (5 of them). They hung out and played around the boat and then when we started motoring, they stayed with us in our stern wake (not the bow wake) about 2 feet behind the boat. We actually could have touched them. Really fun to see. I tried to take some pics, but they really didn't turn out very well. Cool anyway. See below.

Use to watch the dolphins surf the wake from power boats when I live in SoCA - way kowl watching them play

Sounds like a great time. "Nothing huge...5lb...consistently catching 2-3 lbers." LOL. I know that's FL standards, but I would take that any day!!

Haha, my thoughts exactly when I read that.
Great trip! Wow those dolphins look close to the props, but I'm sure they are smart enough to avoid it.

They were definitely close to the props. One of them was obviously the oldest (Grandpa old) and had lost his dorsal fin to a prop. Interesting that this family of 4 or 5 dolphin swam with us for a while and then the oldest one pulled off and was obviously very tired. A few seconds later the rest of the pod turned around to go get Grandpa. Felt bad for him. Not sure how much longer he has if he can't keep up with them. We weren't going very fast either.
