Algonkian 8-26

Level was 2.9 feet and barely could launch the boat a 12:30 pm.  Had to be very carful navigating by myself upstream. I usually do not launch when below 3.0 feet.  Caught 4 smallies on a white buzz bait......biggest was 13.5"......sorry, no pic.  Got to get some rain if I/m going out there again...........

A white buzzer works good on days like today in the skinny water.  2.9 feet where?  It is below 1.5 feet at POR, which is the closest USGS guage I know of.  I broke my motor when it was a little lower than this.

Re: Algonkian 8-26

I really want to get out on the river to test the 3.5 outboard I got for my kayak.  It was low the last time I was out there on the 13th, but it's even lower than that now.  Probably more effort than I really want to bother with to get down Goose Creek into the river.

I did catch a bunch of fish though and the bite was picking up.  I had to leave them biting so I could get back to Kepheart before dark.

50 HP prop Yamaha.  Got to trim it all the way up and watch the water very closely.  Knocked out a lower unit 20 years ago on a rock that was never there before sad .  Most of the water was around 2 feet from Algonkian up to the end of the second island.  Fish I caught were near grass next to deeper water.

Thx

I killed a lower unit running up from Algonkian about 10 years ago.

Re: Algonkian 8-26

Debated whether to post this Wednesday and didn't.  Might as well now...............

Missed a huge NSH in one of the grass beds on the MD side.  Definately a NSH that hit and missed my buzzbait.  I estimated it at 12+ lbs.   Cast to it dozens of times after the miss and just could not get it to hit again.  Was thinking about a NSH pic at the Algonkian Park sign lol .

That is scary!  Makes sense that they could thrive in that section though...
