Chesapeake Flyfishing

Went fly fishing for stripers out of Sandy Point Maryland with Capt. Tom Hughes Saturday.  Weather was drizzling rain and water was choppy...but Capt. Tom got us on the fish quickly and between two anglers, we caught and released 45 fish...with six doubles.  None of the fish were particularly photogenic, but what they lacked in size, they made up in numbers.

Flies of the day were 2" Clausers...pretty much any color pattern, but the silver/white and gold/black seemed to be the most productive.  However, I did catch a couple on a pearl white Squid Fly....no there are not any squid in the Chesapeake...well, not that far up....unless you're counting some of the other boaters....but I wanted to practice casting the squid fly for when I go to California in August.

Weather cleared up later and all in all, it was a great day on the water.

Best regards,

Fishfry
