Simple trip, rented a jon boat with my old work buddy Andrew and we were out on the water at 4PM. It was obnoxiously hot, so we went downstream and found a cove system with shade. Andrew struck first and got this largemouth on an orange texas rigged lizard just off a downed tree:
I got a slightly smaller one (no picutre) out in the open water around the tree on a white Gulp minnow fluke. Later, we keyed in on schools of baitfish being harassed by a bass. It wasn't quite the textbook throw into the school get a strike situation, but I saw this fish flash under the fluke and I brought him up for a picture:
Nice pier/ramp set up this landowner has behind me.
We got a few more bites but no more fish and called it a day at 8PM so the kids working the rental could leave. A respectable day. Occoquan continues to be a solid bass lake.
