That's my plan. Still have yet to decide where I'm launching. I'll be getting wherever early in the morning before the rush and then kill time catching catfish around the bridges most likely.

I was on the roof of one of the bldgs on Independence Ave watching the fly over. Best seats in the house.

Must have been an awesome thing to see!

First one I caught was my biggest. 28"
The second one was about the same. Caught about a dozen total before heading up the river to watch the flyover.
A few pics I've resized.

That last picture is really cool! What kind of camera were you using?
Nice fishes! What were you using as bait?

So, generally, working in DC sucks. But today was a beautiful day and I got to eat my lunch outside watching these incredible old birds flying right over me (I work at the Washington Navy Yard). There is a small park area with picnic tables near the river. It put a smile on my face. A really weird thing happened during lunch. I was relaxing reading a book "Along the Road to Key West" and the heroes of the story ended up fighting a drug king pin in Jamaica. They ended up having a dogfight with the heroes in a Grumman Goose flying boat shooting an AK-47 and the king pin in a Grumman F6F Hellcat with wing mounted machine guns. I am reading this intense description of a dogfight and happen to look up at the airplanes flying overhead and there is a Grumman Goose flying right over me!!! Then a minute later is a formation of what looked like 4 Hellcats! It was pretty strange how everything was "aligned". Then to top it off, there is a character in the book named Rufus, who is a rastafarian soothsayer with dreadlocks and the whole bit. At the end of the next chapter (after the heroes had defeated the Hellcat and saved the day), Rufus says "Just about the time you're strolling down the street of life, not a care in the world, somebody pushes a piano out of the fifth story window right above you..." Right after reading that, I look up again and walking right in front of my picnic table is a black guy with dreadlocks looking exactly how I pictured Rufus!!!! I swear I am not making this up. 100% true. I was so close to stopping him to ask if his name was Rufus....but I chickened out. I think I might have really lost it if it was........I take all this to mean that the stars are aligned and the CAPS ARE GOING TO WIN TONIGHT!!!!!

Great pictures! I toured "FIFI" last year at the Manassas airport along with a few of the "P" planes. I was surprised at how small it is inside. Too bad the DoD couldn't throw in a B52 for the formation....that would've been a sight. There are also a lot of fly overs for Arlington funerals and such throughout the year.
