Went to the bay for opening day. My grandson Mike is 9 yrs old and has never been trophy fishing until today.
Today's lesson....
A little of this
Some of this....
With a grimace thrown in...
Can end with this...
You should have seen the smiles on Dad and Pop Pop's faces
Fish was just under the slot @ 35.5" and 24 lbs. The rockfish nuggets produced more smiles, and Mike can't wait for next weekend.

The lip gripper was hanging from the top. Everyone else was busy snapping pics.

Nice! What a gift to take others and to be taken fishing.

If you would have asked me about 9 years ago if there was anything better than landing a huge striper while you were fishing with your dad I would have told you know, but if you were to ask me now I would have to say the best fish I ever landed belonged to my son. Thanks dad. Maybe he can get a new biggest fish this weekend. My son told pop pop it was the best weekend of his life.

Jeez, Ernie will let anyone in here. Guess I'll have to stop telling Kevin stories. I like the idea of Mike beating his personal best.
