Tenkara test drive 4-12-15

I have been interested in Tenkara for a while now.
My wife and I love to hike. The rod packs down to 20 inches, no reel. It is very simple to cast and great for beginners. My goal for the trip was to get my wife interested.
We had a 1.5 mile hike to the stream. It had pocket water with some nice pools in it. We didn't bring wading gear, but worked our way into positions that we could manage some casts.

Sinikka did great. She actually was casting better then me, I am used to traditional rods and was overpowering it a bit. The rods or only 2.5 oz
I let her take the rod 90% of the time. We wer dead drifting a dry fly. She was getting strikes, but couldn't get the timing or feel for the hook set.

I will take her to the ponds for bluegill before we try again.
