Today, Rob, Mike, Troy and I rolled the dice and ended up even up.
We had heard of a few reports of excellent catches as well as some skunk reports but we all needed to get out and smell some fresh salty air....albeit cold air for the 1st 3-4 hours of our excursion.
Target was striper.....fat ones that are now starting to come into the bay.
Water temps were around 40....not quite ready for prime time but we all managed to catch some fish. And....it was dark (0600) and cold (35) when we started! Plus it was a little bumpy on the way to the fishing grounds.....
Mike got hooked up.....
....started it all with this nice beauty!!
Sign of things to come? Nope, that was our biggest of the day......but we did see a 38" and a 44" caught among the 13 boats in the pack.
Everyone caught fish and since I was fishing next to Rob, he got his picture taken a couple mof time!
On the way back we passed by the best fish holding magnet on the bay....but no one is allowed to get close due to securu=ity reasons.
And of course, Cove Point light always makes for a nice picture....
While we didn't "tear them up", I'll take this to start the year any time...back at if Friday!

Great report and pics! I hope to get after some stripers in the next week or two.
By the way, do you know if it's possible to access Cove Point on foot? Just going by Google Earth I always thought that looked like I good spot to fish from shore.

The Cove point area is mostly a private community. There must be a way but I do not know how.

Yes the south side of the point is open to fishing. But parking is the main issue. All vehicles must have a community pass displayed in the window. So can you get a pass ? The answer is yes from a resident who has an extra guest pass. If you park at the lighthouse with out a light house pass you get a ticket. So it is not an easy task to fish it.

Ah, thanks for the info guys. I figured it was private, and unfortunately I don't know anyone who lives there.
