Sad sight at Lake Anna on 5-8-08

Just as we were about to call it a day after over 9 hours of fishing, we heard a whole lot of fire truck noise coming from all directions. We were on the way back to the marina and as we came around a bend, we could see  smoke....

....and we saw the fire!

....which was this log cabin!

The firefighters were pumping lake water to try to knock it down but it was too late!!

All that was left was the chimney and part of a wall.

We felt bad for the owners.....we don't believe anyone was home when this happened.

Re: Sad sight at Lake Anna on 5-8-08

A couple of years back while fishing Lake Anna, my fishing partner and I saw a huge plume of smoke out of Valentine's Cove (SE part of lake). As we approached and saw the flames we then were graced by an exploding propane tank! It was scary awesome. We did see a dog running around in panic, but fortunately he was okay. We called the fire department with the limited cell signal and they came and put the fire out. Needless to say, it was a pretty unfortunate site.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!
