So...just got back from chasing Yellowtail in SoCal (pic's eventually...I am referring to Yellowtail fish...not the blonde variety) and despite trying to readjust to the 25 degree Virginia weather I dragged my sorry butt out into the cold. My intended goal was to practice double-hauling a light set up into the wind, but after catching a few BG's on a #12 Epoxy Minnow, I realize the fish were biting and I tied on an Olive Wooly Bugger to see what would happen. Well, my 2015 Bucket list included (note past tense) a 17"- 20" LMB on a fly...well surprise, surprise...took the below on a #8 Wooly Bugger, 7'6" 3wt rod, with 7' sinking leader and 4 feet of 6lb fluorocarbon. Yes, it was quite the surprise...very, very soft hit and no jumps...bass just sorta rolled around and its weight was more than enough to make it a lot of fun.
Caught this pig of a BG too...yes, on the Wooly Bugger.
Happy New Years!!

Keeping with the Fly Fishing theme.....caught this guy with an Olive Wooly Bugger, but used a 4wt Fly rod.....wind was up a bit.
Yeah, a 15" Crappie....funny, I keep fishing the same spots, using similar patterns and keep catching the same type of fish....just bigger...okay, I'll stop complaining.
Best regards,
