Re: nationals

I am ready.....they play at noon (Piratas) or 3 (Gigantes)  depending on tonight's outcome between the Pirates and Giants.

Re: nationals

Well, I was hoping that the Pirates would win so the Nats would come to town...but I guess no luck.

Re: nationals

We dodged a sweep. Now it's time to relax and get it done.

Our pitchers have been over the top!

BTW, Bochy is a very good and seasoned manager.

Small ball =pressure
The other guy blinks
Kung-fu panda does the splits
Harper get his 1st grey hair
Umpires neec remedial instruction strike.zone

a game that denies prediction

Re: nationals

Is that Haiku?  I like it!  I was listening on the radio on my way home and the announcers were in shock how bad the umpire was behind the plate calling balls and strikes.  That is the kind of stuff that can mess up a good team.  Luckily, the umpire was really bad both ways.

I am optimistic - the bats are getting a little hotter.  We got through their ace Baumgarter (spelling?) and their next 2 pitchers should be hittable.  Storen actually got a save in the post season under his belt.

I put a lot of blame for the first 2 games on LaRoche and Werth.  They haven't delivered offensively and they are the core or heart of our offense.  Luckily, as you said, they are starting to play small ball again instead of desperate swings for home runs all the time.

Re: nationals

Incredibly, the Giants only scored 9 runs as well.

The kids (Rendon and Harper) were good. Most of the rest of our hitters took the week off.

Our pitching was good enough to win on most days.

Bochy is a very good manager, many little things he did disrupted our guys. He was relaxed....Williams looked tense.

Gonna be a looooong winter!

Re: nationals

Sooooo frustrating!  They are a better team than that and proved it all season.  Really disappointed in them.

I agree Harper and Rendon delivered.  That was a huge home run from Harper.  I love to see how much passion he showed after that hit.  Again I say the team needed MUCH more out of the senior leaders (Werth and LaRoche).  They really let them down.

Oh well, hockey season starts on Thursday.  GO CAPS!!!!!

Re: nationals

Passion!! And I think he was jawing with Strickland....some bad blood there. If he was showing him up, I would not respect that.

Hockey ain't got notin' on baseball.....

The mistakes killed us......Gio, Ramos/Barrett, LaRoche, Gio/Rendon. That does not include hanging curves or flat fastballs.

Re: nationals

My friend Dan gets exited every year when spring comes. "Ern, this is our year", he says. The, 3-4 weeks later, it's over. Must be frustrating as all get out to be a Cubbies fan.

Re: nationals

Watched some pretty good AFL ball......some good players coming up.

The Japan series did not interest me much but the no hitter (4 pitchers) was a definite highlight for the Japan team.

Now, I wait for the Caribbean Series and then only 99 days until it all starts up again!

And congrats to Matt Williams for getting the Manager of the Year award. But...I bet he would trade places with Bruce Bochy if asked what he prefers.
