Went with a friend to fish the UP at Lander this morning. Beautiful day although it was 48 degrees and foggy when we launched at 7:30. Used a small black and gold Rapala to start out. Caught 5 smallies between 8"-12" and had about 7 others explode behind the lure without hooking up. Maybe the fog was impacting their vision. By 9:30 the topwater action stopped. Switched to plastics and caught 2 more on a baby brush hog. One hit it like a run-away freight train. After a few minutes and several exciting leaps, she gave up. Here's how she looked...
Measured out at 19". Didn't weigh her but my guess was about 3-3.5 lbs. Biggest smallie this year.

It was gorgeous...a great day to be on the water. And we never saw another boat, yak, or person all morning. AH...the beauty of Fall fishng.

No...I bought two Emotion kayaks in 2011 which I use in rocky/shallow water; and the Revo which I use elsewhere. So, John, interested in getting on the water somewhere? PM me...
