Originally, I was to be in Rhode Island today to do some cold water striper fishing with my friend Steve. But life circumstances changed that plan.
I already had the day off so Bob and I decided to do some perch fishing from the yaks.
We put in at a very nice facility at Chesapeake Beach and headed out to the open water. It was flat calm with some west wind....the same wind that brought a cold front in. And it was a bit chilly this morning....temps were in the high 50's when we started! BRRRRRR!!!!!!!
But it's all good....we were going fishing!
It took a while until Bob scored the 1st but it was not what we were looking for. We needed bruisers to climb the leader board for the SRRKC White Perch tourney.
I finally got my 1st one about 90 minutes in.
It was a nine something.....
Then I got slammed! I didn't say much but Bob saw my rod bent in half. I had a bruiser on! My heart was racing...I was sure this was a 13 incher!
But alas.....
It was a 14-15" striper.....
We then decided to hit the bulkheads and Bob started to eek a few including a couple of 10+ inchers which now placed him on the leader board!
I moved away and as I was doing that, I heard, "*#@*. "*+#*#" and "*#%**#"!!
He had a really nice perch on and lost it right when he was lifting it up. I really felt bad.....
As we came in, we saw Carl Brown's new "Something Else"!
I really thought that the original "Something Else" was something else. It was a 24' Everglades with a 300hp motor on the back.
This one is REALLY something else....what a boat!
Well, we didn't tear them up as we expected. As a matter of fact, it was rather slow. Don't know if the cold front shut them down but we had a great time nevertheless!
