Shenandoah 8-10-14

Richard (greenerbassin on RS) and I floated a section on the Shenandoah Sunday.  We got on the water around 6:45am and it was a beautiful morning.

We started with some topwaters.  Richard scored first with a fluke while I stuck to a chug bug and small buzz bait.  About a half hour in, I cast the chug bug behind a rock and gave it a hard twitch and the water exploded.  After three jumps and a struggle by the boat, I landed my second best smallie at 19.75"

That pretty much made our day a success.  We tallied 69 smallies (35 Richard to 34 for me) with most being 12" or less.  We did have a 15, 14.25 and two 14" as well.  Fish were caught on fluke, chug bug, cranks, grubs and craw bug.  We will try again on another section.  Need to recover from a 14 hour day on a canoe...

Very nice day indeed but in a canoe? I know a couple of good chiropractors!

Nice smallies. Float trip sounds so peaceful.

Together we'll fight the long defeat.
