5-3-14, Blue Gills were biting!

Of course on a fly....they were down low and liked the blue/black sparkle beaded bugger. At one point I caught 9 in a row and then 5 in a row. Probably hooked 30, caught 20+ including 2 teeny bass and a crappie.

The cool thing was that the hook had snapped about 1/2" down from the eye but it was still dangling as it was being held by the fly material. Finally one of the fish took it off and I retied with another color (brown/green).

Was just out relaxin'....beautiful evening.

I would have caught a bunch more but there were lots of neighbors walking around and chatting.

No big ones but most were 7-8" I suspect.....very few small ones. They are starting to get their color.

Sounds like fun.  I ended up going to South Lake in Reston for a bit and caught about 12 between small bass, red-ear and blue gills.  One of the red-ears was bigger than my palm.  All on trout magnets.
