4-25-14, Potomac River

What a difference a week makes!

I met up with Brian and Mike at 5:15a and we headed on down to the river.

What a spectacular morning!

1st hit of a day was a feisty mussel!

Then...it all broke loose!

Mike's 1st fish....a solid 4 pounder!

The an almost 3 pounder!

Then....a hog!

5.1lbs!!

I was ready to go home as I just witnessed a shellacking!

Finally I scored with a nice 4 pounder....

....that had a cool marking!

Then Brian scored!

And then....I was throwing a chatterbait away from the shore line. With about 15-20 feet to go on my retrieve, a BIG fish smashed my lure. Pandemonium! The fish took line and then took some more. I was using a Med rod and I had a battle on. A record LMB? No, but it was not a big cat either.

It was a 35" striper!

This fish put up a great fight and was released fresh with a tail slap. It stayed in my mind all day....

Then we just kept catching (well, Mike and Brian did)!

Brian moved out to Colorado a few years back but had not fished the Potomac. Mike wanted to show him a good day. He lied! It was incredible!

We had a blast....even saw a small snakehead caught. Brian will have to come back for another trip to get his 1st snakie.

We hurried back to the ramp as the winds started building and beat the rain.

What a great day on the Mighty Mac!
