Snakehead Hunting with Odenkirk

Met John Odenkirk at the Pohick ramp at 9 am and off we went to one of the creeks for 3 hours.  Electroshocked up 14 decent fish,  tagged them, and put them back.  All were measured before releasing. The orange tag in this fish is from last year.  It is now swimming around with two tags off the dorsal fin!

Big fish was 34 inches and estimated at about 12 lbs.

Got off the water just before the rains came in.  Also shocked up HUNDREDS of quality bass that we did not capture.

Awesome. I got to go on an electroshocking trip with them on a local lake once, it was so much fun.

What is the latest thought process on the environmental impact of the snakehead?

Zero impact on other Potomac fishes.

LHC is PRIMETIME snakehead territory. Kind of a "hidden gem" - I don't believe it gets the credit it deserves as a fishery (which is fine with me). I grew up fishing that creek from my grandmothers dock, and am there almost every weekend once the weather is warm enough.
