Chesapeake C&R stripers 4/12/14

I was on the beach at 5:15 to get a good spot, but I waited until about 6:30 to put my lines in. The point was taken, so I settled just to the right. It was warm and calm, a beautiful morning!

I got my first fish within 15 minutes or so. It was maybe 23". Soon after I got a little rat, and then not long after that I got the first big fish of the day. The guy fishing next to me measured it at 35". I usually just lip my fish but he clamped some grippers on it, I guess that's the thing to do now.

Maybe 30 minutes later I got another bite, and it was another good fish. It was bigger than the first, not sure of the length.

I went an hour or two with no bites, and then finally stuck this big one. This time someone came by with a boga grip.

I saw 4 or 5 other nice fish landed by other anglers throughout the day, including a mid 30"  by a guy using a 6' rod with a wire bottom rig and tiny spot hooks. That was really something!

After that flurry the bite really dropped off. I only caught one more little striper before heading out at 4. It was a great day smile

Awesome! Wow Spsp must have been the place to be! What were you using as bait?

Bloodworms on a 6/0 circle hook. I used both a fish finder rig and a regular dropper rig with a 6oz sinker.
