4-11-14, Lake Pleasant AZ

I had a conference in Scottsdale AZ this week. On one of the days, they always leave an afternoon free...in trade off for meeting on Saturday!

So, my friend Maynard and I booked a 4 hour trip with Guide Dale Merry to try for some carp on the fly.

Well, the carp game was off because of wind etc so we tried for stripers. Never caught a desert striper before! Mind you, we fished from 1-5 and it was 94 degrees but it is a dry heat and very tolerable.

The topography is sooooo different there!

Maynard caught one little striper and I managed to catch 6 of them....all on Reaction Innovations Little Dippers.

They were smallish but lots of fun.

I also hooked a largemouth bass but he got unbuttoned when he came up, jumped and threw the hook. He mocked me!

I threw a fly for the last hour but only had one hookup. It felt liek a nice fish and then the line slipped off my finger and he was gone.....total operator error!

Despite the lack of a great bite, it was still a fun outing in a new place. I liked our guide and would go back to fish with him again.

Nice job, Ernie. Love seeing your reports from around the country when away on business. I don't travel much for work but, during any downtime, I typically just order some chicken wings and sit in my hotel room watching the idiot box! Kudos to you and your adventures.

Beautiful landscape! I'm assuming it's a man made lake yes?
