We had great hopes for a better day on day 2 but it was even calmer and there was virtually no current. I thought that Capt. Lee was going to cancel the trip but this time, he had a bunch of die hards on the boat. All but one were repeat customers and not a one was willing to cancel. We all wanted to go fishing!
So off we went and the lines were in! Instantly, we had a fish on!
But I was still skunked (still fishing jigs) and Capt. Lee was pleading with me to switch up. I was bound and determined to catch fish on jigs. Suddenly, I felt a tap and I set the hook and brought up this beauty!
Then it was Mike's turn to bring up another remora!
Then this "trash" fish was caught, a beautiful squirrel fish!
This guy usually mates on the boat but today he was a customer and he caught this big, tasty grunt!
Then a couple of the guys got their lines all tangled up and managed to get mine to but as we were trying to get them freed up, I got slammed (yes, on a jig) and all hell broke loose! Somehow, I got free from the mess and started to fight the fish. A few minutes later, up came a banded rudderfish! I have NEVER heard of it but it is a slot limit fish and somewhat of a rare catch!
We ended up the day with some nice fish including a nice King mackerel caught by one of the crew. Here is the boat and the crew as we were getting ready to take the catch home.
