Does anyone have any experience/familiarity with the lifetime sport fisher kayak? I'm considering it just because I can for joy rides with my young kids when I'm not attempting to catch fish.
Just to note: Leaning toward a tarpon 100 if I'm just thinking if myself. Lol
Thanks
Tom

Tyler and I have the Tarpon 100s. Great yaks. Solid, stable, and comfortable. I highly recommend. BUT, they are not the fastest boat. We went fishing with Ernie on the Potomac once and it was a LONG 3 mile trek back to the landing. Ernie was in his 12-13 footer and paddled circles around me. I know that Tyler would prefer a 12 ft boat, but it is a bit heavier to manage on my SUV and too big to keep in the garage.

Just a quick question.. Lifetime is a plastics company that makes sheds/tables/chairs and bunch of other stuff right here in the USA. Same company?
Great customer service BTW..

Yes it is. We even have a basketball hoop through them. I read they bought a kayak company that already had existing models. The models were designed by the founder of ocean kayaks. Their quite different than the traditional sit on top angler kayaks. Was only considering it since I can use it for leisure with my kids also and it got good reviews. I have a few months to decide and hopefully find a good deal on Craigslist.

Normally I would try to come back with a quick witted, friendly insult after a comment like that, but reality is that you are correct.

Ha! But it was windy and you had your inflatable yak which acted as a sail!! I think you were losing ground at one point....

My first and only kayak is a 100 . I've had it now for a few years and couldn't be happier. Mainly use it on the Upper Potomac and Lakes. Very comfortable and stable as Greg mentioned. As far as speed , I've never raced anyone . Guess I have to challenge Ernie to a race !
