9-28-13, Out of Bushwood and Piney Point

We went out with Capt. Denis Flemming today. Our mission was to chase the outgoing and catch fish.

Weather was nice but we did have a NE wind. I hate East winds and dislike NE winds....more on that as we go along.

The crew was Dale,Lance, Steve and me.

1st we launched out of Bushwood and hit some familiar topwater spots.

No love whatsoever.

We then ran to a place that has been loaded with fish and on the way there we saw some birds (small kind) and we stopped. Lots of fish on the meter and Steve nailed a 15 incher to take the skunk off (forgot to take picture).

The place we ran to was loaded with fish.....but not one hit any of our lures. Very perplexing. After 30 minutes of being tortured, we put our tail between our legs and headed back to the ramp and put the boat on the trailer.

Since we had some time before we headed down to Piney Point, we made a stop at the Chaptico Deli. They were already out of their home made breakfast sausage but we got a few pieces of fried chicken (none better) and some bread pudding. All is good in the world.

So down to PP we go and splash the boat. As we headed out, we got into some blues....

....a speckled trout....

and then, the prize of the day!

This was a nice 22" red!

We then hit a bunch more spots and landed many blues and juvie stripers. We beached the boat and tried an out-flowing creek...

....but nothing happened there.

Down the river we went and at some structure, Dale got an almost keeper!

Fishing was slow although we all managed some fish. We were blaming it all on the NE winds!

I took a little siesta on the ride back from Point lookout....

Right before we headed in we caught some more blues and this last chunky striper.

It was a good day with some good guys. I learned a few more ares that I can take my boat to.

Ernie-

I really like that whole area - VERY "fishy" we fished it on Friday -

Sounds like you had two great days of fishing!

Rob- that was 2 locations in one day. Fishing was a bit slow but we managed to scratch out good trip.

Ernie -

I was referring to the perch trip you had over on the western side - saw those beauties!!

but yes - hitting two spots off the Potomac was a great effort by captain and crew -
