Shenandoah South Fork

Went for a float trip with a friend to the South Fork of Shenandoah. Rented a rubber raftboat from Front Royal Canoe Co. and did their float trip from Karo Landing back to their place.

Fishing was slow in the a.m. but got considerably better from 1pm to 3:30pm. We caught a lot on small smallies (mostly on plastics either texas rigged or split shot rigged) and a bunch of nice red-breasted sunfish (mostly on Roostertail in-line spinners). Biggest smallie was only 13" and biggest sunfish was 8"...hence no pictures as we kept waiting for the bigger ones for pictures.

River flow was mid-range of normal and water color was slightly stained. All in all, a nice way to spend the day.

I agree. Especially when going through the light rapids and over the shelves/ledges. No worries about flipping over or damaging the bottom. Plus a lot roomier for the float vs. a kayak.
