Wife and I headed to Algonkian around 10:30 and were off by 1:30. Boat traffic was very light for a Sunday. We did get checked for licenses by the MD Game Warden. He was nice. We ended up with a dozen nice smallies on jerk baits. Ellen started it off with a nice 17" beauty!

Took me a few minutes to catch up with her. Average fish was around 14" today.

Little Falls is many miles downriver from Algonkian. When that line starts to trend down, it will start to get better at Algonkian before it does at Little Falls.

No way! Too fast and high to be safe. Little Falls is over 5 feet.

The river is fast and ugly (just went by on GW Pkwy)....when the guage at Little Falls starts to dip towards 5, then you will be fine.

was digging up old Algonkian posts as i plan to fish it next Tuesday evening from the kayak. Do i need an MD fishing license?

I'm hoping the top water bight is on for the fly rod ..... plan to hit from 5:30pm til darkish if weather/flows look good.

No...either VA or MD is ok due to the reciprocity agreement between the states. I've been checked twice this year on the UP by MD and no issues with my VA license.
