I had won a fly fishing lesson with Joe Cap at the last NoVA CCA auction (this is the 3rd time I have won his lessons). Joe is on the St. Croix Pro Staff and is a great instructor....and he likes to yell at me!

This time, I took Jamie Gold and we had a great 2.5 hour lesson Joe. It was a bit windy but it made the casting even harder but it was perfect as Joe demonstrated how to defeat the wind.



Easier said than done but we understood the principle. The guy is a casting machine!

After the lessons, Jamie and I headed out to a local pond to try our new skills. Here is one of the two crappies that I caught with a shad fly.



Here is Jamie just after hooking up with his 2nd bass (he also caught a crappie).



After about an hour, we were done because it was getting a bit cold after standing in 40 something degree water for 60 minutes.

Both Jamie and I laughed all the way home as we celebrated a great day!
