Catfishing, really?

My son wanted to catch something big, so we launched in the Potomac and motored up toward Ft Washington. Needless to say it was so windy and rough that we couldn't get the anchor to stick, so we lowered our sights and moved to Mattawoman Cr. I had picked up some mullet from an Asian grocery for bait so we had to use it. We launched at Matingly Park and went a few hundred yards down the creek and anchored on the edge of a 20' hole. First bait over had a fish before the second was cast. We ended up with a cooler full of eating sized blue and channel cats along with these brutes.

First a 38 that destroyed a shimano reel

Then a 28 that nearly took out another shimano

He caught his monsters after all

The reel still works, but it sounds like someone put some marbles in it

Just those two along with 25 from 2 - 5# and a dozen channels around 2#. Neighbor took them to Main Ave for cleaning. The big ones are back in that 20'hole

E. that spot is well within yak range, but the water was getting cooler. You can see Slavins in the background
