That pic's from the Captian's website.  The internet connection here at beach house needs to replace the hamster in the wheel that is powering it.  Taking forever to upload my photos from here to photobucket.............maybe sometime tonight?

Re: 3 Cobia for Curly and crew!!

We planned a family beach trip in Waves, NC (OBX) and also booked a cobia trip with Capt. Aaron Kelly on the Rock Solid today.

On the way outside of the inlet, we stopped at a bouy and hooked up on the first cast.  I gave the rod to my 21-yr old daughter.............and she cannot reel it a single crank........the fish is ripping line and it is all she can do to hold the rod.  She gives me the rod back.

After about 15 minutes..........

and the Capt. gut-gaffs it.

Did I say gut gaff?

It's slinging blood all over the boat and the girls are running for shelter from the horror movie lol lol
A little later we drift a grass/tide line and find the sharks.  Ellen hooks up first.

She gets it to the side of the boat.........and I get it aboard.

Mary Alice gets the next shark.

The ladies caught 3 more sharks..............that were thrown back.
Mary Alice also caught a sub-legal cobia the was returned (no photo)
Finally, Mary Alice brought in a 30+ lb cobia smile .

It was a great trip and Aaron was a great Captian.
We had fresh grilled cobia tonight that was excellent.

Awesome Curly!  I'm headed to OBX this coming Sunday.  My wife's cousin booked us for a half day on Hoo Dini (http://www.sharkyscharters.com/hoodinicharters.html) for Tuesday.  Hope we get into something out there.

That's a big boat! Hope you guys get into something!!

It was 7 years ago in August that my son Jon landed his 1st cobia with Aaron. I had to wait until 2 days later to get my 1st with Capt. Donnie Davis. Both are documented on the Forum (2005)

This thread brought back some great memories of great times at the OBX!
