Snakehead and Bass in Pohick Bay in the hot summer days (July 7 and 8)

It is tough to fish for snakehead and bass in the hot summer days (100F+) in the shallow water.  Though, here and there we catch them on top, surface lures.
My go-to lure: Strike King Rage Tail Toad (Green Pumpkin Pearl Belly) for snakehead and bass

I wish we could have gone with you guys!  I love throwing that topwater frog.  Looks like you had a great day.  You do an amazing job with the vids.

On a kayak?  It's tough to go through/on the weed beds with any kinds of motors.

My boat....I take it all the way up to the splits and then float back (high tide of course).

Power boat?  Hmmm… Keep your chin up even though you have inadequate equipment.

Look on the bright side. You can stand up and stretch. You can go whenever you want even when you are wearing a wader.  And your drinks on a separate cooler, don’t smell like fish and not slimy.

Anyway,
Michael (Redfish12) always finds/catches fish and I steal his spot:

Joe. my boat has separate coolers and I can stand, sit etc.

Standing on a yak for me is near impossible after having both knees replaced......

Re: Snakehead and Bass in Pohick Bay in the hot summer days (July 7 and 8)

I can stand and fish pretty easily from my Ocean Kayak Trident 13... however... now that I am on the Hobie fishing team I am encouraged to ditch it and fish from a Hobie exclusively. My response was fine me a Hobie I can stand in that isn't unbearable to paddle or put on top of my car. They are working on it. Till then I am just going to put some Hobie stickers on my Trident! Kidding... I did test paddle a PA 12 and found it to be surprisingly quick, agile, and stable. I could make tighter turns, stand very easily, and the seat was ridiculously comfortable. If not for the fact I'd need to get a truck or a trailer I would seriously consider one of them.

I need to bring back the fish bag and separate drink/food cooler system, more weight to paddle around but way more tolerable and no more hesitation when drinking something from my cooler. I don't miss wearing waders, but at least with this heat I never have to go because I sweat so much.

We caught a lot of bass and it was kind of funny how disappointed we were when we'd figure out it was a big bass that blew up our frog in the grass. Say what you want but snakehead fishing is addictive and definitely a new sport fish for this region. Also, delicious!
