Deale- we now have a place called "Mo's Hole".....Happy 4th!

Mo, Tony and I got on the water just after 6 Am armed with striper and WP gear. We always peek out at the jetty to see how it looks in the bay.

Well, it looked good so we ran across to Poplar Island.

But as we got closer to the eastern shore, the NW winds picked up and started to help a falling tide really get moving wt 2-3' rollers.

NOAA had told me winds of 5-10kts and seas of 1' or less. They got us again! Oh well...onward!

We fished the east side of Poplar and got nada so we started to move in to Eastern Bay when we say some little birds working.....

....some little stripers (species #1). But....this is Tony’s 1st striper ever! This would not be his 1st 1st today.

After catching 20-25 of these we moved since we could not get any bigger ones. The plan was to go down to Black Walnut Point but things got rough so I decided to head back and just finish out on the WP. We (well, they did) got soaked!

Somehow, the wind laid down enough to erase the white caps so I headed back to BWP.

We fished the point and Tony kept on catching little stripers and then I got this guy (species #3)!

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Kiko13PB/New%20Kiko/006-19.jpg

Then Mo got slammed and this 11" WP (species #4) came aboard!

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Kiko13PB/New%20Kiko/007-17.jpg

Then Mo gets hit and starts hollering. He catches a monster perch but it gets off right at the boat. Just as the fish stared Mo down. I thought Mo was going to jump in after him....

I thought we had found the money hole but we only caught a few more so we decided to go looks for birds since the bay was calmer. As we crossed over, I noticed something to my distant left so I pointed the boat over that direction. Mo looked at me but could not figure out what I was looking at since there were no birds. What I saw was some lazy fish breaking on the surface. The fact that the white caps were gone helped me identify the bonanza. We get close, Tony and Mo make a long cast and each is rewarded!

That was Tony’s 1st blue (species #4) and Mo's biggest blue. Things are looking up!

Now it was time to hit some perch holes as we were running out of our allotted time. But.....what is this?

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Kiko13PB/New%20Kiko/012-10.jpg

Huge beetle of some sort, but he was a friendly. I took it as a good omen.

This was the other good omen....

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Kiko13PB/New%20Kiko/013-7.jpg

....a nice osprey family who let us fish right next to them.

Now....Mo's Hole.

As we start fishing between two docks, we start getting slammed by 11-12" WP. Mo is exited and my trolling motor is dying. What to do? We anchor.....something I don't recall ever doing while fishing for WP.

What transpired in the next hour or so was epic!

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Kiko13PB/New%20Kiko/019-7.jpg

Then...I caught a monster....would it be my 1st 13 incher? You decide...

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Kiko13PB/New%20Kiko/021-6.jpg

My answer is that I am still looking for him......

But the action continued. The WP were in the grass and under the docks. Mo had anchored us perfectly and we had doubles and triples galore. We caught maybe 150 fish.....we kept 53. I was throwing back 9 7/8" fish! It was nuts....what a blast!

Now it was time to get back as the jet skiers were out in droves.

Tony catches a puppy drum (species #5).....his 1st ever!

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj320/Kiko13PB/New%20Kiko/023-3.jpg

And Mo catches this small croaker (species #6).

What a late morning of fishing that was....we left them biting!

As we headed back, I made a quick stop at the jetty where Mo got skunked last time out. A few casts later, a nice 10 incher hits him and all is now good. We can go and get some Ledo's Pizza!

Someone is going to be eating good this weekend....

I think he and Tony were going to split them....

They were earned for sure as we ran over 40 miles today. But, Mo's Hole is close and will be checked out again soon.

What a day!  The perch bite was really hot at Beaverdam this morning too, started up right before the solunar minor.  The water was boiling with them.  Unfortunately there don't seem to be any bigger than 8".  They were averaging 7" which is better than usual though.

Wow!  Sounds like a great day.  I think you could have flattened that WP out a bit (sit on him?) to get 13 inches, but it is always better to reach a goal with something that leaves no questions about reaching it.  Great fish though!
