Deale Md 5-27-12

Gabriel and I decided to go fishing for white perch at deale.  I had to see if the white perch were in yet.  got there at 630 and went right to the point as you get out of deale harbor, no luck.  the water was so calm that we decided to go out looking for birds, again no luck.  at around 830 we fished the piers of the right side  of the point and again nothing.  We discovered that all the rocks at the piers are new, so that was no good.  Finally at around 10 we started catching white perch and under size stripers at the point where we started.  All together we caught 6 white perch(3 keepers and 3 soap fish) and 5 under size stripers.

You need to explain "soap" fish?

In mid June, we hit Deale, Spa and Wicomico. But we are only fishing 2 days so one has to go!

"Soap" fish is a Carl term. He got it from his Vietnamese friend who would make soup out of small fish because he could use them whole instead of filleting them. He pronounced "soup" as "soap" and thus, "soap fish"
