3-24-12, Potomac

Finally......I get to post a fishing Expedition. While it seemed like an eternity as I rehabbed my knee, the wait was worth it.

I met Carlos Maceo and Dan Stroup at 6:30 and headed on down to Pohick.

The forecast did not look good, I just wanted a couple of hours on the boat. But we lucked out as it did not rain much until towards the end. We fished from 7:30 until shortly before 1.

Carlos was ready to roll with his lucky rain hat!

We decided to go north at 1st and the lucky hat paid off as Carlos took the skunk off the boat on a Zoom Brush Puppy....

I followed suit with a small one and then Dan caught a nice one....

....and then a better one, a 2 and a half pounder!

Knowing that the rain was coming we went back to Pohick to fish an area that Gene Mueller told me was always productive.

At this point, Carlos was throwing his 5wt and as Dan was turning the boat around, we thought the trolling motor prop ate his fly....except his line was moving away from the boat. Carlos played him perfectly and Dan executed a perfect net job. This 3 pounder was the reward!

I caught a little one off a piling with a ribbed stickbait......

....and then caught this one off some wood using a spinnerbait.

We then moved to a creek mouth but it was way to shallow so we tried a creek bed as our last stop. Unfortunately, no one was home. Then the rain started to get a little heavier so we called it a day.

I think we caught 9-10 fish in total. It was great to be on the water again, especially with these 2 guys. Never a dull moment on the boat!!
