Lake Rooty - Richmond, VA - 03/11/2012

I'll start by saying no fish. This place reminds me a little of Ashburn Lake. Tough to figure out and receives a bit of pressure.

I met up with CNU's President of the Fishing Club Charlie Hill at Greentop to buy a paddle from him. Through our conversation and browsing, I decided to pick up an Alabama rig...the three armed variety. It was interesting to throw as I attached two smaller Berkley swimbaits and a larger Berkley Swimbait on a lead jighead. I could cast it a mile on fluorocarbon and it has great action...just not enough that day to trigger any hooksets. I did get one bite which I felt despite the bulk.

I look forward to using this on different bodies of water and will report back accordingly.

If it were easy, they'd call it catching!

The Alabama rig reminds me of a striper trolling bait. At least you got a 3 arm which is not as big.........interested to hear about the results.

No better place to meet someone than Greentops!!

Time to go fishin' again!
