Bruce and I got on the Occoquan around 8:15am to fish for YP and crappie. Boat broke down after an hour on the water and we packed it in to return to Ashburn and fish the lakes a while. We bumped into Ernie doing his walk at Alder. Bruce caught a few bass and I had a few crappie. We called it after an hour or so. I took a short nap and went back for more crappie at Ashburn Lake to see if I could get a good 5 for the contest. Here they are:
Big fish was 12-3/4 inches and best 5 crappie were 54.25 inches

I see he ditched Bruce before he went to his honey hole. Pretty bunch of fish, Curly

Curly didn't ditch me...he's too honorable a man. I just got tired (old age is a terrible thing, but it beats the alternative) and went home and took a nap. And I'm sure he has hundreds of honey holes...I know I wouldn't want to make any fishing wagers with him based upon what I've seen him do. Bottom line...when you fish with Curly, you definitely learn something that will help you improve. Also, when I met Ernie and saw him doing his training regimen around the lakes, I'd say he is close to being in top shape and on the water soon.

They were touching when I placed them on it. They kept flopping off and on. I'm lucky that they were still on the ruler when I took the pics .
We can subtract an 1/8" on some of those if it is close towards the end of the contest.......if needed.

Curly, i saw you fishing where we dumped all those christmas tree a few years ago. when I got home from work.
I walked over to see if they were biting, but by the time I got there you were walking up the hill towards your truck. i figured they were not biting. I guess I figured wrong.
Nice fish!
