John Lipetz was kind enough to invite Tyler and I on a Charter with his crew (son Quinn, Alex and his girlfriend Rachel, and Quinn's Uncle) on the "Loosen Up" out of Happy Harbor Sunday morning. Got off the dock at 6am (ugh!!) and the Chesapeake was already Rockin and Rollin. I am guessing 3-4 foot waves all morning but you can't really tell from the pics. We had about 10 lines out with umbrella lures trolling all morning. Luckily the Captain, Bryan Schmitt, has a 6th sense about finding fish. The 7 of us fishing caught 12 Rock Fish averaging around 22 inches and threw back another 4 or 5 smaller fish averaging about 17 inches. Of the other 3 boats we were in contact with, I think one was skunked, another caught 1 fish and the other caught 2 fish. So, hats off to Bryan. He certainly delivered and nobody fell in. We caught fish throughout the morning with a couple double headers and almost a triple header (third fish fell off at the boat). The seas made everything that much more "interesting" and it wasn't too cold. Luckily the "Loosen Up" has a cabin that was great to hang in between fish. Pictures follow.
Quinn got the skunk off the boat with a nice keeper
Then Tyler kicked in with a 22 incher
Alex got his keeper
I started slow with a 17 incher
John and Rachel got a nice Double Header, both keepers
Tyler bringing in his biggest of the day
Tyler with his biggest, a 23 incher, tied for biggest on the boat
I finally got a keeper, 22 inches
It was a Double Header with Quinn's Uncle
The happy group with all their fish
An outstanding day fishing!!!
