Chesapeake Bay, 10-31-11

Was it a trick or a treat?

Bob Forbes and I were going to hit the Potomac today to see if we could raise a NSH. But....when I saw the Bay forecast last night (and early this morning), I changed plans. We went to the bay, Holland Pt area.

Here was the forecast: SE wind, 5-8kts building to 8-12kts later in the afternoon. Waves less than 1 foot.

We were going to fish until 2 PM so we were safe. Sure we were.....

While it wasn't bad in the early morning, by noon we had 2-3 foot seas and winds to 15kts. ARGH!!!!

OK...the fishing!

I can report what everyone has read by now that the YOY for this year is strong. We can attest to that since we caught nearly 50 of them while we chased birds or found them on ledges.

.....smallest fish of the day contest!

Nevertheless, it was nice out, a little chilly in the AM, a little bumpy in the PM but the Targa proved once again that she is a very stable fishing machine!

Bob and I agreed that just being out was a plus.

We would have caught over 100 fish if we had used smaller hooks. These little guys were hungry!

I did hear that the action was much better further on down the bay....
