DC Potomac Stripers + PICS 9-25

Greg Klein met me at Gravely Point at 6am and off we went.  Tried topwater for about and hour, but only two small schoolies were landed.  The fish were scattered and not schooled up.  We cast for at least 2 hours, only landing one more and decided to troll to find them.  We found them, catching 17 stripers in all, but very scattered fish........no doubles.  Three of them were over 18", but we threw them back anyway.  Here's Greg's 21"

Then a nice 23"

And my 20"

Ended up trolling the rebels after 2 hours of NADA while casting crankbaits, spooks, silver buddies, etc.

Curly,

I am newbie to the forum and pretty much fish Burke and Fountainhead, but I sometimes go to Gravely point during lunch.

If you don't mind sharing information, what kind of rebels are throwing?  I would like to try tossing out a lure or two during lunch.

Thanks for the help,

Bruce

Re: DC Potomac Stripers + PICS 9-25

I appreciate the info and was inspired by all of the pics to go fishing during lunch.  I hooked up with 2 stripers, a couple of little guys approximately 12" and 16" using a lipless Kinami crankbait.  I couldn't take any pics because they got off right at the shoreline but at least I got to stretch some line.

Thanks for the tips I will definitely be back.

Do you guys think a 14' v-hull tin boat is too small to launch from gravely point to pursue stripers?

Bruce

A 14 footer is fine most of the time if you have a gas motor. If electric, it will take you forever to get to the channel.
