Goose Creek Tributary 9/24

So my friend said that he had found what looked to be a good fishing spot while he was on the bike trail so we decided to go explore and fish along the way. We went out this morning at 8 and got some confused stares as we biked down the bike trail with fishing poles in hand. When we got the the spot it looked very promising once you got past a set of rapids. We caught 4 SMB total. I caught 3 on a small tube all in the 8-12 inch range and my friend caught 1 with a spinnerbait that was 13 inches overall it was a fun day with some fish in between. we saw a huge fish jump in the middle of Goose creek but couldnt get a line out there. Well here are the fish.

First and biggest SMB around 12"

Second and smallest SMB all my fish were caught on a tube.

Also we saw this baby snake on the way back and do not know what it is. We have ruled out a copperhead because copperheads eyes are diamond in shape while this guys eyes are round. It was sitting on the path on the way back and is about 6-8" long. Can anybody identify it?

Don't know what that snake is but most likely what jumped was a carp. They like to do that just to mess with fishermen.

Those smallies are fun to catch!

Were you just off the WO&D? Many years ago (25) I biked out to the Goose Creek Bridge and waded downriver. Caught a few fish but the most memorable was a carp caught by my then 3 year old son using 2 pieces of corn on a #6 hook (recipe from Carl). It pulled him in to the water. All the bikers up above were having a good time watching him and gave him an ovation when he landed the 8-9lb beast.

Time to go fishin' again!

T. I think you are right. Darn if i knew that i would have kept it! lol Mr. Rojas i didnt think about that but now i think you are right about it being a carp. All i here is what sounded like a small kid doing a belly flop in the water. At first I thought it was a HUGE smallie but it sounded a little big. I wouldve waded on goose creek if the water wasnt so high and murky. I would love to catch a carp there and i will have to try the "recipe" haha.
