Dan and I met up at 0600 and by 0700 we were on the water. Today's focus was the Northern Snakehead....and it was a spectacular day!
Dan took me to some spots where he had caught fish before.
We threw everything at' em. At one point, Dan said this was as far as we should go and we each made a last throw before turning back. Dan declared that he had a snakie following his lure....and he was! What a sight!! He was stalking the lure for sure! Dan told me to throw and bring mine close and the NSK turned away from Dan's lure and put a beat on mine. Then....he stopped and turned away.
For the rest of the day, we talked about that moment. The heart rate was up and the anticipation high....
OK...where to now? So we decided to hit a few spots up river and shortly after we got there, I hooked up with a nice fish which jumped (it was very nice) and spit the hook as if telling me, "see ya!". A few minutes later, I took the skunk off the boat!
As did Dan.....
I did manage a couple of decent fish, most from the same general area....
We kept moving and then were surprised how close this guy let us get to him...must be domesticated!
We then went up to Little Hunting Creek (saw Curly and Jeff there) but we got notin'! I don't even remember any bites...except for one! I declared that I had a nice fish on. Too big to be a bass...not sure how the snakehead feels...and then we saw it!
For a second, just for a second, we thought that a NSH had grabbed my J&P. But it was not to be as it was this guy.....
....a very long and skinny blue cat!
We did run in to another good friend out there....Kyle was fishing close by and was getting ready for a tourney tomorrow so we shared a few secrets....
We were off the water....great day to be on the water!

Not an easy morning for catching fish. Out goal was snakeheads......hooked one and it got off in the pads....oh well. WE targeted NSH the entire day, but we ended up with 6 bass. Sounded like Dan and Ernie did a little better on the bass than we did....saw them in Dogue Creek later in the morning. Here are the pics....
Nice early morning 2 pounder on a spro frog.
Jeff with a spro-frog imitation 2 pounder.
a nice 19.5" LMB on a fluke.
