7-25-11, Aquia Creek report

Yes, it was hot for the 3rd day in a row! But who cares when you are out on the water!

Curly and I went down to fish Aquia in search of some bass and snakies. It was hot and clear but they were calling for boomers later....we would be off the water by then.

All systems check and up the creek we go (we did have a paddle). As we took off to get on plane, I noticed that it took a little longer...maybe I had bad gas but once on plane, we zoomed to our 1st spot.

We worked a shoreline hard and all the sudden Curly yells and says, "hey, there is water coming up your deck hatch"! What? Sure enough, the hatch is filled with water and it's now on the deck. Not again...another cracked hull? I have already been through this once with Curly. So I turn on the bilge and high tail it back to the marina which was not far. We put the boat on the trailer to take a look. The plug is in but water gushing out. ???? Oh man, who was the knucklehead who put the plug in the wrong hole? You can guess by knowing that I don't let anyone mess with the stern parts of my boat....

Once we drained the Targa, back we went. The area looked very fishy....reminded me of when we fish with Capt. Mike.

It was slow but two hours in, Curly nabbed this one!

Over the course of the next two hours I caught two more bass which equaled the weight of Curly's bass.

We moved up creek....in to the shade.

Bot nothing!

We finally reached Aquia Harbor Marina and we saw this giant floating in less than 10' of water!

Lesson learned: you go fishing when you can regardless of the tide. Today, we had low tide at 9 Am which means we fished the last part of the outgoing and the 1st part of the incoming. Couple his with extreme hear and no current and we had a nice, scenic boat ride.

No snakies...3 bass....we will be back!

Beats working!

Time to go fishin' again!

Re: 7-25-11, Aquia Creek report

I have never done that.. but I have left the plug out. To store it, I put it in the bildge outlet. Anyway I figure that snakeheads are kinda like muskie..
You need to catch 10 -15 LGMouth before the snakehead hits.. then you have a 50/50 chance of landing him.

So I left the plug out and the boat is sinking. I turn on the bildge to help while I retreave the truck.. no workie... dang the plug is the outlet...before I could pull it the hose pops off inside the rear deck. Dang... ran to the truck and pull the boat halfway on the trailer. Pull it out and water is just shooting out the drain hole. Reattach the outlet hose and start the pump. Get down out of the boat and feel someone behind me. Turn to see my charter for the day. Water is still shooting out the boat. They point to it and I with my best relaxed voice say "cleaning the bildge" Oh OK they buy it lock stock and barrel.

Keep at it Ernie it will pay off..
