This will be a short report because I am tired and have to go to work tomorrow followed by a stay at Hotel Rojas and an early morning road trip to the Susquehanna on Monday.
I met with Mo and Gabe at the usual spot off Braddock Rd. around 5:30am. We fished from Deale, MD. We didn't find much at the sea wall at the mouth of the creek at Deale so we motored out to the spot where Mo caught them last week. Luckily, the perch were still there and Gabe and I were able to catch our first shallow white perch of the season. Needless to say, I am very excited for this time of year to begin. I tried to keep up with our fish count using a pitch counter. It read 34 at the end of the day but I'm not sure I was diligent enough to say that was the correct number with 100% certainty but it was around that number. I believe we only threw back about 5 fish, the rest were good eating size. We each caught at least one "gorilla" perch at 11.5"+
Most of our fish came from wood docks near a prominent point with some fish coming off the rock rip rap between the docks.
Afterward we stopped at a waterside restaurant/bar for all you can eat crabs. Gabe and Mo gave me a good refresher course on how to eat crabs. It's probably been 8 years since I last had them.
Now I'm home working on filling my freezer. I think I am going to invest in a vacuum sealer this year so I can properly stock my freezer with fish for the winter without fear of freezer burn.
The rocks to get out of the creek at Deale:

The white perch bandito!
We didn't catch a ton of fish but the ones we did catch were pretty big.

Perspective trick!
I also tried my hand at taking video. Here are two examples. Watch both in HD. In the second video you can see Mo get excited about his fish stick sized striper.

btw, Ernie, I successfully tested a new bait. I put the 3" version of this:
onto a new type of VMC jig-head attached to a beetlespin style spinner. Many of the fish I caught had tried to absolutely devour this bait.

Is that a "Rhino jet" boat? If so, I watched it pull out of the Ravensworth plaza onto Braddock this afernoon. The OB configuration looked familiar.

That must have been Mo after he dropped us off!
