Got a fellow fisherman looking for crickets and live minnows in the Burke area..

Does the marina still sell them at Burke Lake?

Yea I am old ....

Any pet store should have the crickets.

Re: Crickets and where to buy them in NO-VA

Thanks guys I relayed the info..

But the last time I fished Burke Lake in 1972 the boat rental place sold bait
crickets
crawfish
fat head minnows
shinners
salamanders too
nightcrawlers
wax worms

I remember buying two yellow  and two white doll flys. I put one of each on two cane poles with a bobber. Rowed to the brush piles and got 30 or so crappie up to two pounds. Just a little drift and row..

I called it strolling at the time..

Still works..

Capt Mike that's so old school. No self respecting crappie would even consider such an offering. Half the people on this board never even heard of a doll fly  :-)

Re: Crickets and where to buy them in NO-VA

Small mouth used to love them in April and May up against the dam in Williamsport, MD, but only the all yellow ones. We ran out of doll flies and switched to hand tied yellow bucktaile and kept on catching.
