Congrats to Mike Luparello (purpleworm) for his tourney win on Wednesday!
He had a 5 fish limit for 14.3 pounds which included a 3 pound penalty for being late to the weigh in!
Here is Charlie Taylor's write up:
Quite a tournament on Wednesday. I think that everyone had a good time. The weather was a little strange. It was 53 degrees in the morning, warming to 85 by weigh in. The wind was calm in the morning, but freshened to about 20-25 mph by weigh in. Although the creeks and both sides of the river were stained, the middle of the river was like coffee with double cream. Lots of floating debris, along with the whitecapping waves kept speeds to a bare minimum.
The fish were eating, however, as chatterbaits, crankbaits and plastics took some nice fish. Lots of fish came off before being landed as the fish were not taking the baits deep. Most were hooked in the lip. Mark Light caught a 16.6# Northern Snakehead on a Red-eye shad in Broad Creek. Didn't know they had migrated that far up the river.
Here is Mike take:
Man what a day!
Main river was muddy, there were a couple huge fields of floating timber in front of Aquia, including some whole trees.
I fished with Ray Emery. It was flat in the morning, so we ran south and fished near XXX. Finally got down there and had the place mostly to ourselves. We had a great day, caught about 20 each and left with a 1/2 hour to get back.
What then ensued was the craziest boat ride I've ever been on! 20+mph southeast winds with the tide running out mean 4 footers all the way back, with logs the size of couches in between in some places. It took us 12 minutes in the morning to get there and 32 minutes to get back. Very sketchy, very scary ride - we took water over the bow a few times and both got completely soaked - but Ray did a good job driving and got us back safely.
We ended up being 3 minutes late and got docked 3 pounds each, but still did well. Ray finished 3rd with 11 something and I got the win with 14.3 lbs. Woo-hoo!

Saw a report elsewhere that snakeheads have shown up on Susquehanna Flats. If true they may be the new state fish in a few years
