Surf fishing Myrtle Beach, SC. help?

So we're stoping by this beach on the way back from florida...has anyone fished here before?  I'm hoping to get some fishing in.  Any tips and techniques would be appreciated. (baits, line weight, techniques, etc) Also, proper rigging of the rod for surf fishing.

Also, anyone know the regs for the need of a license, etc. in SC beaches?

Thanks!

Re: Surf fishing Myrtle Beach, SC. help?

Check out murrel's inlet area. Highway 17 there is a state park with a big jetty. Walk out to the jetty with some finger mullet and shrimp for bait, maybe some small plastics or spoons for reds & specs or Spanish Mac and blues. I've caught them all there at the same time. 1/2-2 egg weight and a leader with a 2/0 or larger kahle hook will catch founder and reds (and sharks) or put it under a cork for specs or whatever else. Standard hi-lo rig would work too. Be careful on the rocks, they are sharp.

There are also several fishing piers. They can tell you regs, what you need and what they are catching. I think they catch whiting this time of year
