BDC Going To Get Even More Crowded

So I took a ride by Beaverdam Creek Res today during lunch to have a look around. Much to my surprise I see this:

It's a new dock that is right by the old one on Mt Hope Rd.

I also saw this by the back of the church parking lot:

A quick google search at home and I found the following on the Briar Woods High School Website:
FAQ’s
Q - Where is BWCC planning on rowing?
A - We will be rowing on the Beaverdam Creek Reservoir for practice and at the Occoquan Reservoir for Regattas.

So it looks as though they've gotten permission to use the reservoir for practice. While this certainly adds a nice launch platform for kayaks and boats, one of the things I always liked about the place was that it was a bit tougher to access. It's gotten progressively more crowded in there for the last 3 years and I worry that a dock like this will make it even worse. Oh well.

Anyone know anything more about this?

Re: BDC Going To Get Even More Crowded

I missed your post but I saw this today.

This will be bigger than just high school. I hope we can coexist on the water....it's a little tough up above the Key Bridge in DC.

Curly and I had to make a rescue once.....some of the rowers are knuckleheads (not all)!

Once, while fishing with Carl and my 3 year old son (he is 28 now), there was a rower coming at us while we were trolling in a 24' pontoon boat. I started yelling at the guy so he wouldn't cross under our lines but all he had to say was the middle finger salute. At that point, a Rebel Jointed Spoonbill came across his scull. He was lucky we didn't hook him. He had lots to say in front of my then 3 year old, none of which I can repeat here. I have more of these type stories.

Heck, Curly and I saw a fours scull crash into an anchored boat, almost throwing a fisherman into the water. The rowers, older guys, though it was funny.  They did hear from me.....

Time to go fishin' again!
