We had a full crew of 10 on board Sea Horse charters this morning. An absolutely spectacular day in FL!
The water has not yet warmed for the spring run so it was slow going in the beginning but Harry caught an undersized Vermilion Snapper and it was a game changer. These are one of the best tasting fish the sea so we switched tactics. While they are small, they have a nice fight to them.
So.....for 90 minutes, we hammered the VSs. We must have caught close to 90 of them. We kept 55......and ate some for lunch.
I use a lighter stick and reel so it's a bit more sporty so when I hooked in to a big albie, the fight was on. I was in the back but the fish wanted to run. I was losing lots of line before I turned him. By that time I was near the front of the boat. It made my day.
I was also able to hook into a nice trigger fish.....he was my fish sandwich at lunch.
On board we had some real nice folks form Canada as well as a man (and son) from St. Vincent.
As I have mentioned before this is not rocket science fishing but when you are out with friends and a good crew it doesn't get much better.
