Re: Last Night's Snow Gridlock

Maryland was worse than VA by about 2 hours....ridiculous either way.

DC area folks cannot drive in this stuff..... mad

I got very lucky that I did not make it to CT. They got hit hard....worst set of storms since 1978.

I am now attending the meeting by phone and playing on the Forum!

Re: Last Night's Snow Gridlock

7 miles in 1.5 hrs left at 4pm... I pushed a car over to the side just so I could get through the ramp at the pentagon. I have a video of the guy that made the problem before he got to the hill. Guy would just gun it then slam on the brakes. DC drivers are the worse, who does that????

It was a lot worse but I didn't get it on film. He eventually turned sideways and blocked both lanes.

All I know is that I will never do anything questionable in your presence! It's like Orwell's novel "1984"...big brother is watching. lollollol

Except the two drunks in Burke who smashed into our parked van ~11:45 last night.  What a stupid, stupid night to get tanked at happy hour.  Not that anytime is good to drink and drive, but, c'mon.  The passenger got out of their vehicle to stagger down the street. The driver got out and promptly fell on his a**.

Re: Last Night's Snow Gridlock

First I have to say it's nice being retired and not having to deal with that crap. Even when I was working our philosophy was when the first flake fell on you it was an act of God, the second flake was your own damn fault. I worked in construction for more than 40 years, and I learned that lesson when I was an apprentice and the beltway was still new. The other side of that coin, if the snow fell after work we always went in the next day, hardly ever any traffic.
Yesterday was a perfect example of poor timing. The snow came hard and heavy and the government released early. Most other offices go by the Feds and leave at the same time and it all hit at quitting time for construction workers. Last time I remember all of those coming together was when Air Florida crashed into the river along with an underground Metro fire for good measure. I left after the first flake and still got trapped.

Thankfully, I crossed that bridge about 90 minutes before the plane hit the bridge. Same kind of snow.....
